The Sports Education and Development Australia (SEDA) Basketball Victoria Broadmadows Sports Development Program have enjoyed an engaging and varied Term 1 of activities and curriculum at Broadmeadows Basketball Stadium.

SEDA Students have been involved in a myriad of practical activities run in conjunction with Broadmeadows Basketball Association and Basketball Victoria.

Some of the highlights of Term 1 include

Level 1 Basketball Coaching Course

·      - Level 1 Basketball Officiating Course

·    -  Volunteering at numerous Broadmeadows Big V Games

·     - International Women’s Day Event at State Netball & Hockey Centre

·     - Surfing at Torquay as a part of Certificate 2 in Outdoor Recreation

·      -  Organized and conducted a regional SEDA basketball tournament at Broadmeadows Basketball Stadium for five other SEDA classes.

·     -  F1 Grand Prix Visit as a part of our Event Management Unit

All of these activities have been conducted to coincide with the units of study of Certificate 3 & 4 in Sport and Recreation, which includes Coaching & Officiating, Event Management, Facility/Club Management, First Aid & Fitness. These activities have provided students with a diverse and engaging learning experience with a focus on developing the personal and academic skills required in the workforce.

All students have been engaged in all activities and have presented themselves in a professional manner. It has been particularly pleasing to see the number of students who have already taken the opportunity of volunteering at events conducted both at Broadmeadows Stadium and elsewhere in their local communities. We are certainly lucky to be situated in such a fantastic basketball stadium, which provides a large variety of opportunities for our students. The experiences provided by Broadmeadows Basketball Association will enable our students to be well placed to gain employment in the competitive Sport & Recreation Industry.
