The LPFL won by 99 points a year ago, but this time it was the MCDFL's turn to shine _ 12.21 (93) to 6.7 (43).
The triumph certainly helped erase the nightmare of the neighbouring leagues' clash 12 months ago as the MCDFL players succeeded in what they set out to do and knew how to execute the plan.
Maryborough Castlemaine went into the clash with a youthful and fast team and it delivered.
The midfield constantly spread to create loose men.
The LPFL had no answer and found gaining possession a difficult task.
When the ball was in the Lexton Plains' hands, pressure led to mistakes, turnovers and more often than not MCDFL goals.
Lexton Plains began the better.
Captain Kiernan Molloy booted three goals in 18 minutes to give the LPFL an 11-point lead at the first break.
Tom Mullane-Grant registered the first goal in the second quarter, stretching the lead to 16 points, but that is where the LPFL stopped.
Maryborough Castlemaine booted the next four majors through Julian Lockwood, Brayden Guareschi, Ethan Ford and Justin Harris to give it a 27-point turnaround at half-time.
The match was still up for grabs at the final change, though MCDFL had to have felt it had things in hand with 21 scoring shots to 12.
Its poor return from forward entries (15 behinds) had left the door ajar for the LPFL.
However, this was steadily shut as the final stanza went on.
Six unanswered Maryborough Castlemaine goals gave it an emphatic 50-point victory.
Victorious coach Geoff Dixon said his team had plenty of run.
"We had a lot of rotations happening. We had a very flexible side.
"Our defence was exceptional today.
"They were very disciplined, did the hard work and it paid off," he said.
LPFL coach Wayne Driscoll gave full credit to the MCDFL.
"They had the hunger this year that we had last year.
"We were beaten to the ball fairly often.
"I thought our stronger bodies would have done the job, but ultimately they were too quick for us," Driscoll said.
