A DOZEN of the league’s 14 clubs are represented in the Maryborough Castlemaine District Football Netball’s senior football squad as it prepares to take on the Loddon Valley this Saturday at Golden Square’s Backhaus Oval.
The Geoff Dixon-coached MCDFL line-up includes former Maryborough team-mates Trent Morlock, Ben Kick, Lachlan Edwards, Scott Sellers and Matt Brown.
Now a key forward at Newstead, Daniel Christmas previously played in the Bendigo Football League for Castlemaine.
A skilful onball brigade includes Harcourt’s Matt Giri, Maldon’s Joel Cross and Christian Kelly and Natte Bealiba’s Alexander Pollock.
It’s the first time the MCDFL has tackled Loddon Valley in an inter-league fixture.
Both leagues were victorious in last season’s challenge matches.
The MCDFL defeated Lexton Plains and the Loddon Valley beat Ovens and King.
A big day of football and netball action at Backhaus Oval includes the under-17 football at 11.30am, and senior football at 2pm.
Netball matches will be the under-15 at 10.30am, under-17 at 11.45am and open at 1.15pm.
