Natte Bealiba has its work cut out in pursuit of its second victory when it faces ladder leader Newstead on Saturday in the Bendigo Bank MCDFNL.
After a narrow loss to Lexton in round one, the Swans clawed their way to a win over Dunolly last week and will need to lift once more to challenge Newstead, who have been in red-hot form. First-year Swans coach Shane Green will have his work cut out finding a match-up for Roos forward Daniel Christmas in particular, with the former Berry-Powell medallist booting 17 goals in the opening two rounds of the season.
Christmas, along with fellow veterans Mark Ramsey and Luke Walters will hold the key for the Steaders, as well as star midfield trio, Sam Kerr, Ethan Ford and Nathan Webster.
The Swans will need to rely on Mark Fitzgerald, Stephen Ross and Brent Mortlock to help get them over the line, with new recruit Dan Rothenberg likely to get first crack at Christmas.

TALBOT vs HARCOURT – HAWKS CHASE SECOND WIN
Talbot coach Troy Cunningham will have his charges firmly focused on securing a second win this weekend as the Hawks take on a tough assignment, coming up against Harcourt.
The Hawks pushed Maldon to the limit and round one and took home the spoils against Rovers last weekend. It’s been a resurgent Talbot in the opening two weeks, with the side seemingly on the rebound following a stretch among the bottom sides on the MCDFNL ladder, thanks in large to a solid core of young talent.
The Lions also look to be on the rebound following a lean 2012 season, with the return of star utility Matt Giri kickstarting a return to form for Harcourt. Despite a 0-2 start to the season, the Lions have matched it with both Newstead and Carisbrook for at least part of their respective clashes and will be confident of scoring their first win for 2013 over Talbot.

CAMPBELL'S CREEK vs MALDON – DONS PRIMED FOR CREEK CLASH
Maldon will take the trip to Campbells Creek in pursuit of its second win for 2013 this weekend.
The Dons look down on recent years, with a narrow win over Talbot and a loss to Lexton last week, and will need massive games from Leigh Harrison up forward, along with Hayden Kelly and former coach Shaun Burchell through the midfield.
Creek will welcome back high-flying forward Joel Smith for this clash, and he will be a major boost to the side, which went down by a massive 149 points at the hands of Navarre last round. Smith, who missed last week through injury, will be hoping he can replicate some of his round one form to help get the Magpies over the line in what’s likely to be a bruising encounter against a hungry Bombers side. With leading goalkicker Leigh Harrison missing for the Bombers this week, this game is anyone's.

Carisbrook v Dunolly
After two convincing wins to open the season the Carisbrook Redbacks will be confident of continuing on their winning way when the Dunolly Eagles make the trip to the Carisbrook Recreation Reserve on Saturday.
The Eagle were less than convincing in round one against Avoca, but were better performed against Natte Bealiba last week and it was only in the last term that the Swans managed to break free from the determined Eagles unit.
They will need to be at their best though if they are to trouble the reigning premiers who are the early favourite to go back to back for the coming season.
The battle between Matt Bilton and Tony Bellenger in the middle will be a match up worth viewing but Carisbrook should be too strong in all areas and get the points in convincing fashion.

Lexton v Trentham
Lexton are coming off a very strong win over Maldon in which they were very dominant at the centre bounces with Tim Oliver dominating the ruck and Damon Aspland in outstanding form in the middle. Tigers Coach Paul Phillips would be disappointed that his team did not finish off their good work last week, and allowed Maldon to control the final term, and will be expecting a four quarter effort against Trentham on Saturday.
Trentham were given a football lesson by a very talented Newstead combination last week. After a competitive first quarter the Saints then fell away and the Steaders picked up the tempo as the game progressed. It will be difficult to see the improvement needed to match up against Lexton this week and the Tigers should win quite comfortably with Matthew Brown kicking a bagful of goals.

Navarre v Avoca
This match is now being played at Navarre on Saturday and after two strong wins Avoca will be looking forward to the opportunity to do battle with one of the early season premiership favourites. Navarre was never challenged by Campbells Creek last round and will be confident of continuing their dominance over their old rivals.
Kris Brennan and Ben Howell will have a good battle in the Navarre forward half, and Jesse Britton and Zane Bigmore will also be a good match up.
Avoca are not without a chance of toppling the Grasshoppers. Navarre are expected to come out victorious, but a close encounter is expected.

Royal Park v Maryborough Rovers
The Maryborough Derby is always a match that is hotly contested for the honour of bragging rights and in previous years it has been Maryborough Rovers who have claimed this honour.
However, despite being handed a football lesson by Avoca last week, Royal Park are a vastly improved unit and will go into this match as favourites to win the match at Hedges Oval on Sunday.
Rovers are yet to get on the board this year and with the possibility that Scott Sellers may be unavailable due to injury, it will be a tough challenge ahead for the Magpies to overcome the Tigers to post their first win of the season.
Royal Park is tipped to keep its spot in the top eight with a win in the local derby.
