Harcourt v Navarre
Harcourt are on the improve as each game passes and this week they face a tough test to see exactly where they are when they take on Navarre at Harcourt Recreation Reserve on Saturday in the Bendigo Bank MCDFNL.
Currently the Lions are in fifth place on the Ladder and will be very confident of a good performance against the Grasshoppers after a big victory over Maldon last week.
This was a good performance as star forward Matt Giri was well held against the Bombers. This meant that Harcourt needed to create other avenues to goal, which they did through Kyle McLean (four goals against Maldon) and Paul Chaplin (six goals).
Navarre have not lost a game since round one and completely dominated Newstead after the first term last week and if they produce the same form against the Lions then they should be able to continue their winning run.
A match up worth viewing will be Navarre defender Brent Flood on Matt Giri who will be a worthy opponent as he looks to produce a match winning performance for the Lions.

Dunolly v Maldon
Dunolly host Maldon at Deledio Reserve on Saturday and with a confidence boosting win over Royal Park behind them, the Eagles will be confident of continuing on their winning way.
The Eagles introduced some running players from the top end into their team last week and all had some bearing on the result.
Maldon were given a football lesson by Harcourt and their cause was not helped by the loss of one of their main avenues to goal when David Carroll was cleared to Newbridge. Carroll is very dangerous around the goal mouth and his loss will be a big blow to the Bombers. On the plus side though, Tom Cain has returned to the club from the VFL's Bendigo Gold and will certainly boost the onball stocks at Maldon.
Maldon has lost their last two games and will be eager to get back onto the winning list to maintain their spot in the top six and if they play to the best of their ability should be able to do so, but the Eagles will make it a tough task to do so.

Avoca v Campbells Creek
The match between Avoca and Campbells Creek should be one of the closest matches of the round with both teams finals aspirations on the line.
The Bulldogs are sitting in ninth position and Campbells Creek are tenth with both teams on the same points and only percentage separating them.
This game will be the Bulldogs first game at home for the season due to renovations at the Avoca Public Park so they will welcome the opportunity to get back on their home deck and hopefully the opportunity to post a win in an up and down season to date.
It was a disappointing performance from the Bulldogs against Natte Bealiba last round and it is expected that a better performance will be on display against the Creekers this round.
Joel Smith returned to the Magpies last week with a best on ground performance and he will be a key player if the Creekers are to get over the magpies this week.
This is a game that promises to be a tight contest, but the home ground may sway it in favor of the Bulldogs.

Lexton v Maryborough Rovers
An injury plagued Maryborough Rovers travel to Lexton on Saturday and will be playing for pride as it is difficult to see them troubling the Tigers who are coming off a defeat at the hands of the undefeated premiership favourites in Carisbrook.
The Tigers will use this game to boost their percentage and their running players such as Damon Aspland, Rob Mosby and Lachlan Pryor will use the spaces of the wide open Lexton Reserve to run their opponents off their feet while Matthew Brown could kick double figures again this week as Rovers are seriously depleted with injuries and unavailable players taking their toll on the winless Magpies.
Matthew Stiles performed admirably in the ruck last week but he will find Tim Oliver a tougher opponent in the ruck duels, and whilst playing coach Scott Sellers, Brent Christie and Andrew Jardine never give in for the Magpies, they will have their work cut out against tough opposition.
Lexton to win by a big margin.

TRENTHAM VS NATTE BEALIBA – SWANS AND SAINTS LOOK TO MAKE IT TWO ON THE TROT
Natte Bealiba will venture to Trentham this weekend with the Swans in pursuit of a much-need fourth win for season 2013.
Fresh off the back of its most impressive display of the season after a crushing defeat of Avoca last weekend, the Swans will make the trek to Trentham brimming with confidence.
Swans skipper Mark Fitzgerald in particular has been outstanding for his side this season, and ran amok with five goals last week, while his forward-line partner-in-crime, Matt Stagg made a return to form last week with three goals. The Swans also welcomed back ruckman-forward Lachlan Cameron for his first full game of the season last week, and utility Zac Perez is likely to return to the line-up after missing last week with a hamstring injury.
However, despite their less than impressive record so far this season, the Saints will be no pushover after scoring their breakthrough victory over Rovers last weekend. Trentham has been improving week-by-week on the back of some impressive form from their young players such as Luke Whitehouse, Lewis Bruton and Scott Witmitz, while coach Clayton Scoble continues to lead from the front.
In what is sure to be a hard-fought match, both sides will be keen to go into the second half of the season with another win to their name.

CARISBROOK v NEWSTEAD – LEAGUE HEAVYWEIGHTS GO TOE-TO-TOE
Two of the MCDFNL’s top teams will square off on Saturday when Carisbrook and Newstead go toe-to-toe.
Up until last weekend, both teams were undefeated, and this is the match that could well decide who finishes at the top of the MCDFNL ladder come finals time.
Newstead had dominated all its challengers up until last week when Navarre unseated them at the head of the ladder, and the Roos will be out to atone for that loss. The Steaders were minus midfield prime mover Sam Kerr last weekend, and could again have to cover his absence against the Redbacks as he recovers from a badly sprained ankle.
The Redbacks are now the competition’s only unbeaten side and will carry the tag of favourites ahead of Saturday’s clash. Carisbrook’s midfield dynamo Matt Bilton continues to stamp himself as the recruit of the year, wreaking havoc against opposition teams week in, week out. Nathan Wright also causes problems for opposition defences on a weekly basis, and the Redbacks will need to keep tight wraps on him if they’re going to cause an upset this weekend.

TALBOT VS ROYAL PARK – HAWKS OUT TO HALT SLUMP
Talbot will take on Royal Park this weekend as the Hawks look to arrest a mid-season slump.
After a promising beginning to the season, the Hawks have fallen off the pace in recent weeks, and will view this weekend’s clash with Royal Park as an opportunity to reverse their fortunes. The form of Brandon McRedmond, Trent Barras, Matt Smith and Ross Wise in the first half of the season has been a shining light for the Hawks, and second-year coach Troy Cunningham will look to build around this core of players as the year progresses.
The Tigers will be no pushover however, and will be out to atone for their one-point loss at the hands of Dunolly last week. Only poor kicking for goal cost Bushy their third win of the year last week, and they will also see this as an ideal chance to even the ledger as they experience their most successful season in recent years.
