The Maryborough & Castlemaine District Football Netball League’s Central Highlands Regional State League netball sides will be looking to open their accounts for the competition tonight when they take on the Ballarat-based Eureka Netball Club in their Round 2 RSL matches at Ballarat’s Llanberis Netball Centre tonight.
After a spirited showing against reigning Regional State League premiers Ballarat FNL last week, going down by just three goals after leading at the final change, the MCDFNL’s Open side will be looking to go one better this week against a Eureka side that was overpowered by the Riddell District FNL last weekend.
With strong games from defenders Fiona Themann and Ash Lierich last week, as well as steady shooting from Olivia McEvoy and Jess Parry and the usual solid contributions from mid-courter Jess Williamson, coach Ingrid Hopkins would be confident of her side posting their first win of the RSL tournament tonight.
The Open team take on Eureka Netball Club at 8:30pm at Llanberis Netball Centre, Ballarat
The MCDFNL’s 17 & Under side will also take to the court searching for their first win of the tournament, and should go in confident against Eureka tonight.
In 2013 Rookie of the Year Taylor Mason and 2013 17 & Under Best & Fairest Caitlin Lanfranchi, the side has the leadership to go a long way in the RSL tournament, and once the girls have played a few games they should be a very strong combination.
