FOR the first time in a long time, there is optimism around the Campbells Creek Football Club.
The success-starved Magpies, who have not tasted premiership glory since 1953, are two wins from two this year after winning just eight matches in the past three seasons.
Although he is taking great pride in his club’s steady start, Campbells Creek president Ben Klimeck is under no illusions that the Magpies’ quest to return to finals football has only just started.
“There has been hours and hours of hard work put in by a lot of people to turn it all around,” Klimeck said.
“There is a big buzz around the club, especially after Saturday’s win over Talbot.”
He said much of the excitement was the result of better off-field practices and a bumper recruiting drive, which saw Campbells Creek snare more than 15 players.
