The MCDFNL Youth Girls Representative Side is looking to expand its playing numbers ahead of the 2016 season. This opportunity is open to any girl between ages 12-18, and no experience is required.
The popularity of Female Football has grown in recent years, as highlighted by the creation of a new MCDFNL Open Aged Women’s side to compete in the VWFL this year. The MCDFNL has also committed to starting our own U/12 Junior Girls side available for females ages 8 to 12 wishing to play competitive football for the first time.
In line with the AFL’s announcement of the plans to establish a national women’s league by 2017, there has been no better time for aspiring female footballers. The establishment of these sides is a reflection of the opportunities that are on offer for any aspiring female footballer.
The MCDFNL is looking to provide a pathway to all females wishing to play football at any level, from U/12’s through to our Open Aged side. Our commitment to providing participation opportunities for females of any age or ability is supported by the Executive and clubs of the MCDFNL and we look forward to watching this sector of the game grow in our own backyard.
Importantly, all U/12 and Youth Girls games will be played on Sunday’s throughout the season allowing any girl who plays either junior football or netball at club level on Saturday the ability to play in the U/12 Junior Girls or Youth Girls competition on the same weekend.
For any girl interested in trying their hand at football, please contact Brandon Weatherson on 0437 520 173.
Training is held each Wednesday night at Jubilee Oval from 4.30pm.
