The Bendigo Bank Maryborough Castlemaine District Football Netball League held its Junior Presentation night last night at the Maryborough Harness Racing Club in front of 400 people.

U/11.5 Football Best & Fairest Award
WINNER:
Tyson Scoble - Winner of this award last year as well, Tyson Scoble has capped off another sensational year taking out the U/11.5 League Best & Fairest Award. Named either best or second best on ground in all 15 games played this season, Tyson has also managed to sneak forward and kick 18 goals this season as well. Well done Tyson on a wonderful achievement.
RUNNERS UP:
Jai Howell – One of the most dangerous forwards in the competition, Jai is player to watch into the future. Amassing a huge 51 goals for the season, Jai knows how to find his own football and know exactly where the goals are. Well done a great season Jai.
13 & Under Netball Best & Fairest Award
WINNERS:
Alexandra Davies - Alex has had an outstanding year with a Talbot this year playing mainly in the centre, but is also known to have a run at either end of the court in defence or goals if needed. She was selected in the MCDFNL 13/U team this year & played well in all positions she played in. She has also played up in the 15/U competition regularly throughout the year. Alex is a very versatile player who can quickly adapt to any position. Alex & her 13/U teammates bowed out of finals in yesterday's elimination final against Carisbrook, however she may be seen in action with the Talbot 15/U team this coming weekend as they take on Campbell’s Creek this Sunday. Congratulations Alex.
Caitlin Richardson - Caitlin has also had an outstanding year this year with Newstead playing in either goals or in the centre. She is known for her speed & agility & her accurate shooting. Caitlin gained selection in the MCDFNL 13/U interleague team this year & played mainly in the mid court. Despite her small size, Caitlin displays fierce determination & the ability to create many intercepts with her pace & reading of the play. She has also played in goals with consistent shooting accuracy & is willing to shoot from near or far in the ring. You can watch Caitlin this coming Saturday as her & her team mates look to advance to the Prelim final if they can overcome Carisbrook. Congratulations Caitlin.
RUNNERS UP:
Zoe Wheeler - Zoe has had a consistent year playing in goals with the 13/U Lexton team. She has strong passes & provides continual drives for her team mates, with a positive attitude. Zoe has also played up in the 15/U competition where she has played mainly in the mid court. Zoe had a busy day yesterday playing in both Lexton's 13/U & 15/U elimination finals, however unfortunately for her they both lost so has finished her netball for this year. Well done on your consistent season Zoe.

U/14.5 Football Best & Fairest Award
WINNER:
Myles Lawrence – What a night Myles has had already, first being awarded the League’s leading Goal Kicker and a League Best & Fairest award to add to the war chest. Myles’ start to the season was remarkable kicking 49 goals and racking up 5 best on ground performances in the first 5 rounds of the season. Well done Myles for a wonderful season.
RUNNERS UP:
Taylor Kennedy – Another fantastic season for Taylor Kennedy finishing runners up in the U/14.5 League Best & Fairest award. After being named in the best on 15 out of a possible 16 occasions, Taylor has been one of the main reasons for Avoca’s consistent season this year. Watch out for Taylor this weekend in the Semi Finals as he continues his solid season, well done Taylor.
15 & Under Netball Best & Fairest
WINNERS:
Tamsyn Dicker - Tamsyn is playing in her third year at Trentham & has been a valuable team member playing in ring defence and in midcourt. Along with playing regularly up in the 17/U competition, she was selected in the MCDFNL 15/U Interleague team playing mainly GD & impressed all with her determination & ability to get her hands on many intercepts & rebounds. She was also invited to try out for Zone Academy Program this year & has attended training for selection. Tamsyn is a quiet but persistent defender who never gives up & continually creates turnovers for her team. Her 15/U team just missed out on finals this year however she may be in action this weekend playing in the 17/U Trentham team as they take on M/Rovers on Sunday. Congratulations Tamsyn.
Gina Ross - Gina is in her first year with Avoca after playing with Carisbrook 13/U team last year. She can play up either end of the court, however has played more so in goals with her Avoca team. She has also regularly played up in the 17/U grade & was selected in the Development squad for the MCDFNL 15/U team this year, playing in goals. Gina is a tall, accurate goalie who moves well in the ring & also plays a tight defensive game. You can watch Gina this coming Saturday as her 15/U team take to the court against where Newstead for a prelim final spot. Congratulations Gina.
RUNNERS UP:
Bonnie McCubbin - Bonnie plays in defence with her Maldon team & has had a consistent season, helping her team get into finals action this year. She was selected in the 15/U MCDFNL Development Squad this year & is an up & coming umpire, umpiring regularly throughout the season. Bonnie plays a tight defensive game & always makes her opponent work hard for every possession, she reads the play well & is a good team member encouraging her team mates. Unfortunately her season finished yesterday as her 15/U team mates had an elimination final loss to Newstead.

Bella Westbrook - Bella has had a very consistent season playing in defence. She has great ability to read the play well, creating many turn-overs for her team & is known for her ability to rebound strongly. Bella was selected in the MCDFNL 15/U squad as a bottom age player & like Tamsyn was invited to try out for the Zone academy & attended the training day for selection. Bella has also played up in the 17/U competition & was a regular player in the B Grade team. Bella displays great maturity in her game & has shown consistent improvement over the year, she has a bright future with her netball. She may be seen on court this weekend as she joins her 17/U teammates as they take on Trentham for a Prelim final spot. Her 15/U team have earned this weekend off after a strong win over Avoca & go straight to the Prelim final. Well done Bella
15 & Under Regional State League Netballers
This was the first time we entered a team in the 15 & Under RVNL competition and we also had a move from the Central Highlands competition to the North Central competition that took place in Bendigo on a Thursday night.
There was a number of extremely strong teams, especially from Echuca, which saw our girls exposed to competing against some extremely talented state based netballers. The exposure to this elite competition saw some rapid improvement in our girls who benefited from our playing against these players.
Kylie Mortlock assembled a great group of girls and although we were beaten in the first finals, our netball benefited further down the track with a number of the team being nominated to attend zone academy trials.

17 & Under Netball Best & Fairest
WINNER:
Shannae Mills - Shannae received the Netball Rookie of the Year last year & has continued her good form this year having a consistent year in goals in the Natte 17/U team & also playing every A Grade game this year playing in goals. Shannae was captain for the 17/U MCDFNL Interleague team this year & has represented the league in Interleague & RVNL/RNL competition for the last 3 years. She is an accurate goalie who displays beautiful movement in attack & plays with maturity beyond her age. You can watch her in action this weekend as her team takes on Lexton in 17/U & she also suits up for A Grade as they take on Harcourt for a Prelim final spot.

RUNNERS UP:
Chantelle Wardlaw - Chantelle has had a great year also playing mainly in goals in her Avoca team and then took the court again playing B Grade. Chantelle was a valuable member of this year’s MCDFNL 17/U interleague team where she was played at both ends of the court & received her team’s MVP award for their game against the CHNL. Chantelle is an accurate goalie who can read the play exceptionally well & is known to take regular intercepts every game, displaying strong attacking & defending skills. Unfortunately her 17/U team finished their season with a loss in yesterday's elimination final however she can still be seen in action preliminary final weekend playing in goals with her B Grade team. Well done Chantelle.
U/17.5 Football Best & Fairest
WINNER:
Riley Bibby – What an exciting count! Well done to Riley Bibby who has capped off a wonderful season with Navarre by being named the U/17.5 League Best & Fairest. What makes this achievement even more remarkable is that Riley backed up his game in the U/17.5’s with a regular game in the Navarre seniors where he has cemented a regular spot and will also feature heavily in the finals which we are currently in the middle of. Well done Riley.
RUNNERS UP:
Zak Rinaldi – Zak has had a consistent year with Carisbrook in the U/17.5’s which has also resulted in him being rewarded with his senior game with the club earlier in the season. Featuring in the best 10 times throughout the year, Zak has also been an Interleague representative and is sure play a big part in Carisbrook’s push for an U/17.5 flag. Well done Zak.
