The Trentham District Football Netball Club will be able to provide its netballers with long- overdue change rooms, thanks to a $100,000 State Government grant.
The project will provide the club with female-friendly change rooms, toilets, amenities, a multi-purpose room and a kitchenette, in a development Trentham Football Netball Club president Marcello Matricardi says is a long time coming.
“We’ve been working towards this longer,” Matricardi said.
“Previously the girls were getting changed in the back of their cars, so this is long overdue,” he said.
Member for Macedon Mary-Anne Thomas was on hand to make the announcement and said the funding will provide Trentham’s netballers with the same facilities enjoyed by the footballers.
“It’s not good enough to have women and girls changing in the back of cars to play the sport they love. It’s unfair and we’re fixing that,” Ms Thomas said.
Construction on the new facilities is set to begin in the near future.
