Lexton -v- Newstead
Lexton bounced back from its round one loss to Maryborough Rovers on Saturday, with the Tigers clawing their way to a nine-point win over Newstead.
In a low-scoring, scrappy affair, accurate kicking proved the diffeence between the two sides, with Lexton on target in the 7.6 (48) to 4.13 (37) win over the wasteful Roos.
Tigers coach Matt Brown returned to his side's line-up for Saturday's match-up, but did little to boost Lexton's scoring woes early on, with the home side scrounging just a solitary behind, as opposed to Newstead's 1.3.
The Roos did plenty of attacking in the second term, but simply could not split the goals, with wayward kicking producing just seven behinds for the visitors, while Lexton's forward forays were a little more bountiful, recording 2.3 for the quarter.
The Steaders' kicking woes subsided slightly in the third term, managing to match the Tigers with three goals apiece, but could not edge their way in front, trailing by just one point at the final break.
That lead extended to nine points by the final siren, as the Tigers drilled home another two goals, while Newstead added just two behinds to its three-quarter time score.
Brown's return proved beneficial for Lexton, booting three goals, as did Tim Oliver, while Jacob Eyers, Tom Cullinan, Oliver and Kyle Eyers were the standouts for the victors.
Newstead coach Dylan Bourke was his side's major avenue to goal, booting two of the Roos' goals, while Cody Mulcair, Brad Richardson, Oscar Lynzaat and Mitchell Woods were Newstead's best.
Natte Bealiba -v- Dunolly
Natte Bealiba has moved into top spot on the MCDFNL ladder after the Swans collected their second 100-plus point victory in as many weeks, demolisihing Dunolly in a 163-point thrashing.
For the second week straight, small forward Emmet Smith booted six goals straight as the Swans romped to victory, 30.12 (192) to 4.5 (29).
The clash on the Swans' home turf was all but over after the first term, with the ladder leaders booting nine goals to two in the opening stanza, leading by 49 points at the first break.
That margin continued to swell in the second term, with Smith, Lachlan Cameron (five), Trent Mortlock (five) and Taylor Strachan all running riot inside forward 50, extending the gap between the two sides to 124-points at the main break.
Dunolly could do little right against the rampaging Swans, with speed and superior ball movement being the home side's weapons of choice, as they drilled home another five majors for the term, while the Eagles scrounged their fourth goal of the game.
The visitors would not score again however, with Natte's defence holding Dunolly scoreless for the entire fourth quarter, while the Swans' forwards and midfielders enjoyed the spoils in front of goal, with another five goal term closing out the big win.
Smith, rising star Bailey Cossar, coach Jarrod Bateson and Strachan all featured among the votes for the victorious Swans, while Tyson Jones, Jay Pitto, Matthew Gibbs and Jordan Fraser were Dunolly's best.
Carisbrook -v- Maryborough Rovers
Carisbrook played host to a rejuvenated Maryborough Rovers and the crowd that gathered were not to be disappointed.
Rovers opened goaled within the first minute and it was some time before Carisbrook responded after a seesawing battle.
A further two gaols to Brook saw the quarter time score showing Carisbrook 4.4 (28) toRovers 2.3 (15).
Rovers was first to register a major in this quarter after a snap but Carisbrook responded a goal.
After a break due to the lights malfunctioning Rovers was the first to goal through a snap lowering the lead to only seven points. Brook answered immediately through Matt Bilton.
But as had been the pattern all night Rovers were not to be denied and once again they goaled from a free and the difference was back to six points.
Peters was able to use his height and mark a Tommy Wright kick near the behind post and then put through his second goal. Then just prior to half time Rovers were able to score their sixth goal from a well-earned free.
At half time Carisbrook led 7.6 (48) to Rovers 6.5 (41).
The third quarter the was a sequence of five behinds before Rovers was able manufacture a goal and the scores were tied at 50 points each.
The term saw the lead seesaw as both sides threw everything into the contest and neither able to break away.
At three quarter time Carisbrook led 10.10 (70) to Rovers 9.8 (62).
The last quarter saw Rovers gain the early edge when they were able to goal and reduce the margin to three points before a goal to Chris Scragg sealed the win for Brook.
Final scores were Carisbrook 11.12 (78) to Rovers 10.9 (69).
Campbells Creek v Avoca
Campbells Creek has posted their first win of the season with a fighting 23 point victory over Avoca on Saturday.
Creek opened up strong with the first four goals of the game and appeared to be coasting, but the Bulldogs were up for the challenge and responded with the next five goals of the game to take a three point lead into
quarter time.
The Bulldogs were then able to maintain the upper hand and pushed their lead out to 14 points at half time and were seemingly heading to victory.
Creek had other ideas and started the second half in the same manner in which they started the game, and kicked six goals on the trot, while keeping the Bulldogs to just two behinds, and completely turned the game around to take a 24 point lead into the final quarter.
The Bulldogs were finishing the game strongly and got to with 7 points with about five minutes remaining in a very exciting final quarter. but Creek kicked the final three goals to run out winners by 23 points.
Campbells Creek’s better players were Matt Lorenz, Shannon Berriman, Kristian Bruce and Matt Hodgetts, while Kaleb Kennedy kicked three goals for the winning team.
Avoca’s Brad Martland, Jason Wood, and Hugh Bucknall were amongst their better players as was Karl Lewicki who kicked four goals.

Maldon v Royal Park
Maldon were on the end of another big defeat when Royal Park handed the home team a 79 point defeat.
It was only inaccuracy by the Tigers that spared the Bombers a much larger defeat on the scoreboard, the Tigers had 41 scoring shots to 12.
The Bombers were very competitive in the third term however as they matched the Tigers five goals, but they could not restrain their opponents in the final quarter as they had twenty shots on goal to just three scoring shots for the home team.
It was Royal Park’s second victory from two games and they will be looking forward to next week’s contest against League leader Natte-Bealiba.
Stefan Pye and Zac Tunbridge were again amongst the better players for Royal Park as was Jay Anderson and Ben Clay who had his goal kicking boots on finishing with six goals for the game.
Nick McKnight and Luke Spalding were key players for Maldon as was Hayden Kelly who kicked five goals in his first game for the season.

Trentham v Talbot
Trentham was outstanding in the opening quarter against Talbot as they kept the visitors scoreless under lights at Trentham on Saturday evening, but inaccuracy saw them kick only two goals from seven shots on goal to lead by 17 points at the first change.
The Saints managed to maintain control of the game and pushed the lead out to 39 points at half time and were in a very strong position to post their first victory of the season.
However Talbot mounted a challenge in the third term and kept the Saints goal-less, while kicking four goals to reduce the margin to eleven points at the final change
It was one way traffic in the final quarter as Trentham stormed hone with a seven goal term while restricting Talbot to two goals as the Saints ran out comfortable winners by 44 points.
The Saints were well led by Jake Keogh once again who is in consistent form in the first two games of the season, he was supported by Hayden Sundblom, James Wicker and Jonathon Nadin, with Sundblom kicking three goals.
Matt White,an was selected as Tal;bot’s best player, with good support from Zac Graham, Tim Carroll and Luke Kemp, with two multiple goal scorers in Jorde Bux and Daniel Romeo with two goals apiece.

Navarre v Harcourt (Sunday)
Harcourt travelled to Navarre on Sunday and were confident of a good showing and the confidence levels rose even higher with the first goal on the board to Benny Leech within a minute of the opening bounce.
But the confidence levels quickly diminished as Navarre kicked the next five goals in succession.
The grasshoppers were on top out of the middle with Josh Fowkes dominating the ruck as he did for the remainder of the game.
Navarre kicked three goals in 2 minutes, including a goal from the centre bounce where Fowkes put it down the throat of Louis Hannett on the run and his pass hit Cody Driscoll lace out, and of course, the reliable Driscoll slotted the goal.
Navarre’s defensive half proved to be impenetrable as Brent Flood returned three forward entries from the Lions in succession. Navarre led at quarter time by 27 points.
Harcourt made a contest of it for a brief time frame in the second quarter when they kicked four goals in succession to be within 15 points at one stage. Harcourt took advantage of some undisciplined play by the Grasshoppers and three of the Lions goals came from fifty metre penalties.
All of the good work put in by Harcourt was lost though when Navarre kicked the next three goals to lead at half time by 33 points. One of the goals was a result of an outstanding blind turn by youngster Wil Clough who then sat the ball up for Cody Driscoll to mark and kick his fifth goal before half time.
A seven goal third term put the game well out Harcourt’s reach as the high flying Cody Driscoll pulled in some big grabs and kicked three more goals for the quarter as Navarre led by 58 points going into the final term.
Jeff McMurtrie posted the first goal of the quarter for the Lions, and it was then one way traffic as the Grasshoppers slotted the next six goals including one more for Cody Driscoll who finished with nine goals for the game.
Josh Fowkes was best on the ground for the Grasshoopers and Cody Driscoll was close behind with his nine goal haul, while Ash Driscoll, Aaron Slorach and Daniel Reading were also amongst the better players for the home team.
Brady Davidson, Andrew & David Wilson and Brayden Frost with his three goals were amongst the better performers for the Lions.
