Primary Schools Basketball Day a Huge Success

SAPSASSA 2014

The annual District SAPSASA Basketball Tournament conducted at the Ice House last Friday proved to be a most successful day.

Teachers and parents from the nine participating district schools organised and prepared 38 teams to compete in the four divisions of 5/6 and 6/7 Boys and Girls.

In the words of Tony O’Connell, SAPSASA Coordinator;

“All players and officials are to be congratulated on the overall behaviour on the day. The games were played in a competitive and sportsmanlike manner with some tremendous skills on display.”

He thanked the many teachers and parents involved for their help and made special mention of the superb job done by the Tenison Woods College students and adults, who so capably carried out the umpiring and scoring duties for the day.

It is pleasing to note the obvious increase in interest and improvement in basketball across the district over the past two years of the District Tournament.

The teams who qualified for the Regional Day in Millicent on Thursday August 28th are:

6/7 Girls: Tenison and Compton.

6/7 Boys: Tenison and Reidy Park.

5/6 Girls: Mulga Street and Tenison.

5/6 Boys: Tenison and Mulga Street.
