Bulldogs Red 80 (M Black 30, D Reid 21, J Berry 16) def Bulldogs Blue 73 (B Young 14, H Wright 12, D Bunnik 12)

In the battle of the Dogs it was the Bulldogs Red who took the honors. Boosted by the return of Duncan Reid (21 points) and the continued good form of Matt Black (30 points) the Red side took control of the game in the second quarter and managed to hold on despite continued challenges from the blue team. Young gun Ben young put in one of his best performances with 14 points for the blue side.

 

Panthers 74 (K Tipene 29, O Thomson 17, K Rodis 16) def Cougars 64 (K de Wit 18, Z de Wit 18, B Ousey 14)

The Panthers who might have thought they were in for a cruisier game were surprised by the late inclusions of Kane and Zach de Wit giving the Cougars the complete de Wit sibling set and a much needed boost. The Panthers impressive first quarter set the tone for the game and Kyle Tipene continued his good form (29 points). The Cougars pushed back and got the margin to single figure before the half, however the Panthers had too many answers for any of the Cougars challenges running out ten point winners.

 

Cats 71 (K. Bradley 19, J Murphy 16, f. Bradley 14) def Roos 50 (M. Sutton 13, Malok Makuer 12, Mony Makuer 9, Z. Nulty 9)

The Roos took on the Cats with both teams desperate to take a position in the top two. The game was close early however the Cats used their size to take advantage of the smaller Roos players creating an edge in the contest and scoreboard. The Roos failed to connect on open shots and began to force some tough ones which played right in to the hands of the Cats. Kade Bradley had a stellar all round game finishing with 19 points.

 

MG PLASTERERS SECBL WOMEN

Cougars 70 (S Ritter 24, T Gray 17, C Horrigan 14) def Panthers 63 (T Bryant 19, A Duncan 15, J Jones 11)

For three quarters this game was very tightly contested with the Panthers taking it to the top placed Cougars, The U18 trio of Tara Bryant, Alyssa Duncan and Joey Jones were using their speed and ability to shoot to full advantage finishing the first half with a Panther three point lead. The Cougars would rally and the great form of Sarah Ritter (24 points) continued. The Cougars were able to string some stops and scores together to open up a double figure lead in the final term and put the game out of reach.

 

Cats 63 (E Winter 28, L Denton 11, A Winter 10) def Bulldogs Roos 49 (C Hunter 16, E Bouchier 10, E Brown 9)

Going in to the last quarter the Cats held onto a two point lead, the scrappy Bulldogs/Roos (Roodogs) had been able to keep the game on their terms. A 14 to 0 run by the Cats to start the final term ended this game quickly, Emily Winter showed her class with 28 points and proved too much for the Bulldogs/Roos to handle. Claire Hunter top scored for her side with 16 points including 4 three pointers.
