With this being Harbour’s last game of the round they wanted a win to secure much-needed game points. Auckland however appeared just as determined to deny them the opportunity.
The first half saw some dynamic touch with pace, ball handling skills and player agility on display from both teams. Harbour secured the first touchdown of the game. Auckland responded quickly with two touchdowns to Sherwin Stowers and Ashley Dunlop Hogan.
Harbour quickly responded to bring the early score line back to 2-2. Auckland seemed to get their nose ahead in the scoreline with three touchdowns in a row being scored to Ben, and two to number Neho. Both teams were not giving an inch and Harbour went onto score two touchdowns, but another two to Auckland gave them a 7-4 halftime advantage.
Harbour kicked off the second half with two touchdowns in a row by Samantha Rowe and Tommas Lemutton. They were on the path to getting back in the game, but a touchdown to Auckland kept them ahead by two. Harbour showed some great determination, team work and great ball skills that enabled them to cross the line another two times to draw the scoreline 8-8 in what looked to be a thrilling finish.
A controversial sinbin call by the referee with a holding call saw Auckland down to five players on field with six minutes to go in the game. Auckland however took their opportunity and Neho crossed the line giving them a 9-8 lead. Harbour were quick to respond with the last touchdown of the day to Lemutton taking advantage of only five Auckland defenders being on field to leave the final score at 9-9.
