Open Mixed: Auckland v Wellington Match Report
Wellington's Open Mixed team is packed full of talent with the likes of Courtney Chapman, Tiwi Davies, Tabitha McKenzie and George Albert-Jahnke all backing up from successful Trans Tasman Test Series Campaigns. The fire of this wins was still burning bright as Wellington were a constant threat to Auckland's line in the opening moments.
Lauren Ensor was first to cross for Wellington with McKenzie not far behind after quick hands opened up the field and space in the middle for the Touchdown.
Auckland got themselves on the scoreboard not long after through a nice move that was ended by Sherz Sanderson who shaped to pass, dummied and then went over un-touched by the flat-footed defence.
Auckland's continued to fightback and eventually the scores were level at 3-3. The second half though saw Wellington dominant for a period of time and pile on the pressure and points to open up a convincing lead. In no time the score was 10-5 and the game in the Middle Earther's keeping.
To their credit Auckland kept on coming at Wellington and pegged the lead back somewhat but in the end went down 11-7.
