Under 16's 2015-16 Finals Results & MVP

Under 16 Boys

The Swans Under 16 boys have secured a spot in the grand final winning against Rebels 29 – 20. Swans player Thomson Dow scored 14 points and Liam Thornton had 9 points for Rebels.

1st Semi – Speewa 24 defeated Saints 22. In a game that could have gone either way Speewa were able to convert two consecutive baskets late in the game to take the win. Bailey Tobias 10 points and Oliver Scott 8 points were best for Speewa and Oscar Gale scored 13 points in the paint for Saints.  

Prelim Final – Rebels 45 defeated Speewa 39. Rebels looked like they were in control all night against the Speewa team even though Oliver Scott was able to hit three 3pointers as part of his 17 points for the game. Lucas Caccaviello was impressive in the front court with assists & 18 points along with Liam Thornton controlling the boards and scoring 25

Grand Final –  Rebels 45 (Liam Thornton 23, L Caccaviello 14) defeated Swans 29 (B Grey 9, C Grey 8)

Under 16 Girls

In a very tight season the final’s series so far has been exciting with only 7 points being the largest margin in this age group. In the 2nd semi Rebels athletic Hannah Spencer was in fine form with 19 points to help her team win 36 to Fireflys 29. Top scorer for Fireflys was Amy Jobling also with 19 points.

1st Semi – Speewa 29 defeated Saints 25. Meg Hogan’s defensive pressure and her 11 points helped the Speewa team overtake the Saints in the second half. Gwennie Thompson with 8 points and Sophie Brumby 7 played vital minutes for the Saints but just fell short by 4 and out of the finals race.

Prelim Final – Speewa 31 defeated Fireflys 29. With only 2 minutes to go in this game the Speewa team had a 10 point lead then Firefly’s Trinity Ayre & Amy Jobling added 8 quick points between them to worry Speewa and were so close in capturing the win. Meg Hogan continued her great form for Speewa with 17 points and was well supported by Lily Denhouting with 8 points
