Golden Boys Continues to Glitter

In the Under 18 division, the only 2 undefeated teams, Rising Stars and Golden Boys each entered their game on Friday sporting a 2 – 0 record.  With a great start, Golden Boys was leading at the half, 20 – 13, behind the balance scoring of Edgar Mitchell, Elvis “Zui” Usher Jr. and Michael “Scratch” Arnold.  However, Rising Stars made their run in the third quarter, as Dijon “D-Mac” McNabb started to score for his team.  At the end of the third quarter, the half time lead was cut to 1, as Golden Boys was clinging to a 29 – 28 lead.  In the fourth quarter, with 56 seconds remaining, Rising Stars took a 1 point lead, but down the stretch, Golden Boys was able to hit their free throws, winning by the slimmest of margin, 44 – 43, after Dijon McNabb missed the last shot that would have given them the victory.  Unaware of the time remaining, he heaved up a three point shot with 8 seconds remaining, after which Golden Boys secured the rebound for the big W.

Golden Boys was lead by a balanced scoring attack, as three players finished in double figures.  Elvis “Zui” Usher Jr. finished with 12 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocks, while Edgar Mitchell tallied 11 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists.  Michael “Scratch” Arnold also chipped in with 10 points and 5 rebounds, as Golden Boys remain as the only undefeated team in the Under 15 division, boasting a 3 – 0 record.

In a losing effort, Dijon “D-Mac” McNabb scored 14 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and had 2 blocks, while Julian “Big Up” Guzman finished with 12 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists.
