BNE Oilers Burning At the Right Time

Saturday night senior game between the #2 seed Western Warriors and the #3 seed, and defending champs, BNE Oilers, came down to the final shot, as both teams fought to take the 1 – 0 lead in the best of three series.  At the end of the first quarter, BNE Oilers narrowly held on to a 1 point lead, 14 – 13, while Emerson King of Western Warriors sank 6 points in the quarter to keep his team close.  BNE had a great 2nd quarter, outscoring their opponent 22 – 12, taking an 11 point lead into the half.  At the half, Dorian Jones had 12 points, while Kyle Pascasio had 9, giving BNE Oilers a comfortable lead. 

Going into the 4th quarter, BNE held on to a 7 point lead, when Ivan Flowers got hot in the 4th, sinking 13 points in the quarter, which included 2 huge three point shots, as well as crucial free throws.  With 3 seconds remaining, BNE Oilers was clinging to a 2 point lead, when Ivan Flowers shot a 3 point attempt which bounced off the rim, giving BNE Oilers a 1 – 0 lead in the series.

BNE Oilers was lead by Dorian “Cheezy” Jones who scored 14 points and pulled 6 rebounds, while Christian Rodriguez and Kyle Pascasio each had 11 points, and Mark “Deisel” Wagner finished with 10 points.  In a losing effort, Ivan Flowers with finished with a game high 20 points, while Emerson King chipped in 15 points.
