NEWS: Cup tournament organisers seeking new naming rights' sponsor for 2017 event

THE longest running pre-season football cup competition in Victorian soccer is seeking a major sponsor for its 2017 tournament, which will be hosted by the Geelong Rangers Soccer Club at its Myers Reserve complex in Bell Post Hill.

The cup, originally known as the Geelong Advertiser Cup, gives Geelong supporters and players an appetiser for the coming Senior Men's season and has drawn good crowds since it was started in 1981.

The tournament has included some of the brightest talent in Australian soccer over the decades, with Socceroos Steve Horvat and Kris Trajanovski keen past competitors.

In addition, Sir Bobby Charlton was also a guest at the competition.

This year the competition has been expanded to include Golden Plains and Deakin Ducks as guest clubs.

The series will showcase the top sides in the Geelong region and will include newly promoted State League clubs, Geelong and Geelong Rangers. Also in the line-up, will be Bell Park, Corio, Surf Coast and Lara.

The competition, to be held at Myers Reserve from late January receives considerable publicity through the Geelong Advertiser, which is also a media partner in the event.

We urge potential sponsors to consider backing this tournament, which provides an avenue for the youth of the region to showcase their talents.
