NEWS: FFV’s Talent Identification Development Centre (TIDC) program FAQ

FOOTBALL Federation Victoria (FFV) will be conducting six Talent Identification Development Centre (TIDC) regional programs in 2017 – one of which will be located in Geelong.

Two groups will come under the umbrella – the Skill Acquisition (Boys Under 11-12 years plus, as well as girls 11-13 years) and the Game Training (Boys 13-15 years and Girls 14-16 years). Both groups will have  combined squads ( Game Training – Skill Acquisition) of up to 22 players training 1 night a week in Geelong training and playing with own clubs during the season.

Below are some Frequently Asked Questions about the TIDC,,,

1) TIDC…. WHAT EXACTLY IS IT?

-          The Talent Identification Development Centre (TIDC) program delivery will provide an improved pathway for Identified - Talented Regional players through ensuring that in 2017 the FFV will set up six Regional Centre’s throughout the identified major population centres to run concurrent along the same program as the Metro programs. One of those six regional areas will be the Geelong region.

2) WHEN AND WHERE WILL IT BE HELD?

-          The actual TIDC Program is likely to be staged at Hume Reserve in Bell Park, with the Trial dates and venue to be confirmed.

3) WHAT ARE THE AGE GROUPS INVOLVED?

-          The TIDC program is targeting through trials and scouting “future talented players “ prospective players in the 13 to 15 age groups working in selected talented player squads conducted under the banner of FFV technical staff plus we will also conduct Skill Acquisition Phase  TIDC Centre for Under 11 and Under 12 players in each of the six identified Regional areas.

4) HOW WILL THE TIDC PROGRAM FIT INTO YOUR CLUB COMMITMENTS?

-          By running both the Game Training (13-15 ) and SAP (11-12 ) age groups, FFV will be providing an opportunity for a targeted 20 players per program (Game  training and SAP ) these  selected players  from the area will train together on a weekly basis and be involved in further representative programs if identified. These players will continue to train and play with their respective clubs as per normal.

5) WHAT IS THE TRAINING AND SELECTION PROCESS?

Overview - Regional TIDC Squads 

-         - Players to train 1 night a week with TIDC Squad (likely to be a Monday night) – train 2/3 nights and play with NPL/Community club on the weekend

-        - Regional Hubs (Geelong squad) Game training made up of 13-15 year olds plus identified females (14-16 years ) plus SAP 11-12 boys  11-13 girls

-        -  Players’ trial to be selected (date and venue TBA)

-        -  Players invited in for a 8- 10 week program

-        - To run over 3 cycles/programs a year.

-        - Cost $80 per cycle

6) WHERE DOES THIS PROGRAM LEAD TO?

-          Players evaluated during the 10 week program will be provided with a report – if they meet a certain standard, they will then be re-invited in to the next program – if not, other players given the opportunity through talent ID.

-          For the 13-14 age group, participation in the Regional TIDC in Geelong provides players with the opportunity for selection in the Japan Under 13 and 14 TIDC tour in August and also 13-14 and 15 Victorian State selection
