NEWS: NPL Warriors send best wishes to Geelong’s Juniors ahead of Country Champs this weekend

THE REGION’S sole (male) NPL representative club has expressed its best wishes to the Geelong Junior representative teams competing at this weekend’s Victorian Country Football Championships in Gippsland.

The Warriors’ Under 12 coach and ex-club president, Josip Zilic, posted a special message on the Geelong Region Soccer News Facebook page wishing the team’s juniors the best of luck in their endeavours to perform well at this year’s Championships.

“All the best to the representative teams participating in the Victorian Country Champs in Gippsland this weekend,” Zilic said, then continued, “especially to the Under 12 team whom we had the pleasure of hosting at North Geelong Warriors FC last week. Do yourselves and the region proud!

“(I) love this photo as it shows how the region comes together for player pathways from Community leagues to the NPL. I'm not sure in total just how many clubs are represented in the Geelong Rep team, but from the faces I know there's at least four different clubs just in this team.

“In this year’s North Geelong NPL U12s team, there are no fewer than seven different clubs (Barwon, Surf Coast, Geelong SC , Geelong Rangers, Corio, Elcho Park and North Geelong Warriors) that are represented by the players.

“Football... it’s a sport that provides a real a world of opportunity," Zilic concluded.
