Suns to face state’s big guns

NPL junior teams will play every other team in their conference once, before the league splits into a top eight and a bottom seven, in which teams will play each other once more to finish the season.

Information regarding a promotion-relegation system at senior level and competition rules across all grades will be released in coming weeks.

With a deadline set, the race is on to get everything in place in time for round one.

Being a new entity, the Suns are at a major disadvantage to most of their rivals, who have established players, coaches, playing strips, sponsorship and training and playing facilities.

Also of concern is the confusing geographical conference the Suns’ junior teams have joined.

While Bendigo Amateur Soccer League will travel to the likes of nearby Pascoe Vale, Avondale Heights, Whittlesea and Sunshine in Melbourne’s northern and western suburbs, several of Goulburn Valley’s opponents are based on the other side of the city, including Dandenong, Oakleigh and Springvale.

Whatever the case, it promises to be a frantic month for the new entity.
