FORFEIT WOULD HAVE COST SENIORS POINTS

The Goulburn Valley Suns’ senior team would have been stripped of points had they earned them against Green Gully Cavaliers on Saturday.

The National Premier Leagues Victoria rules stipulate any points won in the seniors will be stripped if the club cannot field a team in all seven junior age groups from under-12 to under-20.

The Suns did not have the numbers to field an under-15 team during Sunday’s fixtures at Bentleigh Greens and were forced to forfeit the game.

Suns junior technical director Pat Kielty said players playing in Shepparton Junior Soccer Association could play for the Suns without needing dual registration, while those at Goulburn North East Football Association clubs could play in both, but would need to have dual registration, which the Suns are handling and must be in by Thursday night.
