Goulburn Valley Suns will continue to seek growth out of some of their younger players when Hume City visits McEwen Reserve tonight.

With relegation confirmed, all the club can do is look to get things right ahead of next season’s campaign in the second division of National Premier Leagues Victoria.

Senior coach David Davkovski — the Suns’ third this season — said the camp’s mood remained positive, despite the club’s impending relegation.

‘‘I look at the way the boys trained on Wednesday night and they’re still enjoying themselves,’’ Davkovski said.

‘‘There is no whingeing or complaining. They’re giving 150 per cent in training and I can’t ask for much more than that.’’

However, Davkovski is asking for a more consistent performance this week after some disjointed displays in recent weeks.

After a promising start under Davkovski, the Suns have lost their past three games.

The Suns have created plenty of chances, but have struggled to find the back of the net, courtesy of a mixture of outstanding goalkeeping and poor finishing.

At the other end, lapses in concentration have allowed opponents to score flurries of goals in quick succession.

‘‘We need to stop the bleeding again because the wound has opened up again so to speak,’’ Davkovski said.

‘‘We’ll just want to try and lock it up and see the first 45 out.

‘‘The younger players are still learning what it takes to play at this level, so we’ll just keep getting them in.’’

Hussein Sumaili could be the latest local youngster to make his senior debut, while Geordie Lelliott is also in line for a start.
