After some big name signings to the club during the off-season, new West Footscray club administrator Phil Rigg says the Roosters are keen to put their hard work to the test come the opening bounce this Saturday.
Number of teams this year:
Seniors, Reserves, U18, U14, U12, U10 and U9
Pre-season News:We have been having a strong turnout at training, getting 45-50 Senior players each night. So far the training quality and output from the players has been great. We also ran a special training camp during summer and played a few practice matches before the season kicks off which has been really beneficial.Under 18 player numbers have been disappointing but the club is working hard to improve these numbers. Our junior Pre-Season has been going well too, with good numbers seen at the track.
Expectations for 2014:
To see a marked improvement in both Senior and Reserve teams, with both playing finals in Division Two for the first time since 2007.
Significant signings over the pre-season:
Lucas McGhie
Damien Yze
Aaron Batty
Tobi Bray
Kane Liosis
Young players to watch out for this year:
Last season’s U18 Division Two Best and Fairest runner up Brody Lane has been training hard all pre season and looking to play a few senior games throughout the year, so he is one to keep an eye out for in 2014.
