The Western Region Football League’s Board is now complete, with the addition of its tenth member last night.
At the board’s first meeting for season 2014, Meredith Angwin was unanimously elected to join the WRFL Board.
Under League rules, the Board has the power to appoint one member with special skills and/or qualifications in addition to the nine club-elected members.
Angwin joins the Board with a wealth of international business experience, having worked across a range of industries including financial services, manufacturing, airlines and telecommunications during her time as a partner of PWC Consulting and IBM Global Business Services.
Currently the General Manager for Enterprise Projects and Change for the National Australia Bank, Angwin enjoyed a successful 20-year career in the consulting industry, specializing in program management and business technology implementation, as well as client relationship management.
“I was approached a while ago to be involved on the league’s board and I am really honoured to have been given the opportunity to join,” Angwin said.
With a strong family history in the WRFL, Angwin was happy she was given the opportunity to contribute to the league in a similar manner to her parents.
“My father Ron was the WRFL President for 11 years, whilst my mother Thelma was the league’s Treasurer for a decade and still actively attends Life Member events held during the year,” she said.
“I hope to contribute to the ongoing development of the WRFL and look forward to being involved from a strategic point of view, in creating a long lasting future for the league.”
Angwin’s appointment marks a new step for the board, with the tenth member making this year’s group the largest WRFL board in recent memory.
WRFL President Bruce Mildenhall said the addition of Angwin to the board would strengthen the group in all areas.
“Meredith is extremely well qualified in a number of areas which I think will really compliment the already talented group we have,” he said.
“Not only is she a passionate Bulldogs supporter, but she is also passionate about the league having grown up with her parents’ involvement and we look forward to working with her in 2014.”
