Emerging athletes - Futures Squad trials - Wednesday 29th April 2015
A Futures program will be conducted in partnership with the Alice Springs, Darwin and Palmerston Basketball Associations.
Who is it for?
We are looking for club players who love the game, are athletic, coachable and committed to develop their potential. We will be aiming to identify and help prepare future Association and State Representative players.
There will be both a Boys and Girls program with a maximum of 20 players per group.
What does it look like?
The program will run in 8 week blocks throughout the school year. Adjustments may be made to accommodate school and Association representative programs where needed. The first block will run from trials during the week of 27th April through to and including the week of the 15th June.
The squads will train once per week on-court for 1.5 hours throughout school terms with a strong focus on individual development. The players will also be invited to attend morning sessions at the NTIS as part of their holistic athlete development program.
In addition, two training camps will also be held throughout the year.
All basketballs and equipment will be provided. Players will also receive a program reversible singlet as part of the program cost.
Who are the coaches?
Each centre will have a strong coaching team including Club, Association and Northern Territory State Team Coaches and will be supported by Trudie Hopgood, Basketball NT Coach and Player Development Manager.
All club coaches will be welcome to attend sessions at any time throughout the program.
How are players selected?
Open trials will be held at each centre as stated in the information table above.
What does it cost?
$280 per player ($70/ term)
