Four teams do-or-die kick off for semis

It will be a survival of the toughest among four teams of Class-B Division of the Subaru Cup 2012 of Pinoy Basketball of Qatar (PIBAQ) when they clash at the do-or-die matches on Friday at the Al Gharafa Multi-Purpose Training Gym.

Natsco Garaga will face CEG International in the first game while Flamin’ Go will meet KIA Motors in the second, the matches that will determine as to which of the winning teams will face Dukhan Ballers in the best-of-three championship series starting February 22.

Thousands of basketball enthusiasts are expected to jam-pack the two hardcourts of the venue as each team had already drawn their own followers since the start of the exciting season.

PIBAQ officials have agreed to determine the next finals qualifier through win over the other points system or the winning team which had more point advantage than the other winner in the four-team rubber matches.

The decision which is based on FIBA rules was reached during a meeting to ensure that there would be no game fixing among the teams and players. The system will also avoid players to secretly make a quota of their point production which is another way of game fixing.

“We wanted to ensure that there will be fair play especially that this will be a crucial last games of the semifinal rounds of Class-B Division,” said Edgar Sambo, PIBAQ Commissioner.

At the Class-A Division, Power Horse Energy Drink is set to play against Isarog team in the best-of-three championship series on February 22 while Team Creations and Concepts will face Manila Express Cargo-One Family in the battle for third place.
