DOHA: TEAM QP Dukhan defeated ETC Solutions 67-36 to bag the championship title in the 40-Above Division of Pinoy Basketball of Qatar's (Pibaq) 15th Season Men's Basketball League President Alvita Cup 2014 in a match held at the Al Gharafa Training Gym recently.

Oscar Butial, contributing 24 points to the game, led the campaign of the Dukhan boys in lifting the title. Teammates Tito Cabacungan, contributing 10 points, and Jessie Macasa, with nine points, provided a big boost to their team.

The tournament's 40-Above Division was a special section of the league aimed at promoting being fit and healthy at any age.

The division is an initiative of Pibaq founder and SBP (Basketball Federation of the Philippines) Qatar official Pat Carido sending out the message that age should never be a hindrance to actively engage into sports activities such as basketball.

Meanwhile in the ongoing 2nd Team Division of the league, Batang Sanna and Mabuhay Restaurant both advanced to the semi-final round after defeating Qafac team and Dukhan Ballers, respectively.

Batang Sanna bagged a convincing win against Qafac team with the final score of 80-61. Rodel Odal (17 points), Bogs Laher (13 points), Rahfael Vallado (11 points) and Macky Gomez (14 points) combined forces to earn their way into the next level of the tournament where they will come face-to-face with powerhouse team Qat-Art Design (One Family) on Friday.

Mabuhay Restaurant is also preparing for their next match where they will battle it out on the hard court against Palmeras-TFCMI. The team defeated Dukhan Ballers with the score 91-62 to secure their spot in the much-awaited semi-final round of the tournament. Eric Tamayo and Philip Villarosa of Mabuhay were both unstoppable during the game, contributing 19 points each.
