The Melton Bloods are pleased to welcome Shaun Campbell to the club for 2019.
Shaun’s extensive football resume includes time in the NEAFL with Ainslie, a season at Ballan in the CHFL where he won the competition medal with the second highest number of votes in the award’s history, and the past three seasons as a playing coach with the Wagga Tigers in the Riverina which netted a premiership in his first season as coach in 2016.
The 28 year old midfielder is relocating to Melbourne after calling time on his coaching career with Wagga and while the self confessed footy head intends to resume coaching one day, he is looking forward to focusing on playing in the 2019 season.
Football Manager Brad Jamison noted the club had targeted a midfielder on the recruiting wishlist. “With most players signed up for next year, the coaching staff have identified that another midfielder with a bit of experience and leadership would be beneficial to the team and Shaun brings those attributes to the club. Additionally, having watched a few of his games online his ability to win contested footy and his work rate really stood out”.
Campbell now heads on a brief holiday before joining his new teammates at MacPherson Park for pre-season training in late November.
