The Eastern Football Netball League has announced that the Beaconsfield Football Club will join the league in 2022. The club’s transfer from the Outer East Football Netball League was confirmed by AFL Victoria this week following a very strong majority vote at the EFNL’s recent Special General Meeting. SEASON UPDATE
The Eastern Football Netball League has finalised its plans for the remainder of the Eastland Senior Men’s 2021 campaign. The league in consultation with the clubs has developed a roadmap to the end of the season. These dates are dependent on the Victorian Government’s Health Guidelines and Restrictions. SENIOR COMPETITIONS UPDATE
Divisions Two, Three and Four of the Eastern Football Netball League Senior Men’s will return this weekend, along with all divisions of Senior Women’s and Veterans (Men’s). Senior Men’s Premier Division and Division One along with Women’s Veterans will resume on August 7. WINNO SIGNS ON
The Mitcham Football Club are excited to announce the reappointment of Senior coach Neil Winterton for the 2022 season. Neil will hang up his boots at the end of this season and has accepted a one year deal as a non playing coach for 2022. Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control our annual Ladies Lunch has had to be postponed yet again. The Mitcham Football Club are committed to delivering our postponed functions once restrictions allow us to. All Eastern Football Netball League fixtures scheduled for the weekend of July 23-25 will not proceed, due to current health restrictions. A mixed bag for the footy club this weekend with just two wins – One in the netball and the reserves. Seniors stayed with one of the main premiership fancies in Mooroolbark, but a master class from former AFL player Aaron Mullet sunk the Tigers with Mullet breaking the game open in the 3rd Quarter with 4 majors. Certainly wasn’t our most rounded performance of the season thus far when we visited Upper Gully on the weekend. The Under 19s coughed up a two and a bit lead at 3/4 time to go down by 3 points, Reserves were never really headed and the Seniors did what they had to do against a spirited opposition to win by 9 points. Under 19s never really got going as a more skilled and Physical East Burwood out played our boys. It’s a brutal game Aussie Rules footy and when we added Pimmy and J Hoegel before the game to an already very long and growing injury list, it would have been easy for our guys to say NO chance against a Mooroolbark side that had plenty to play for. A mixed bag of results for the Mitcham Boys this week against The Boronia Hawks in Round 5. A very undermanned U19’s side fought hard all day to fall short by only 7 points after being down by 32 points at ¾ time. TWO OUT OF THREE AIN'T BAD
Mitcham Seniors exorcised a few demons on Sunday when it claimed a breakthrough finals victory. The Tigers overcame the memories of last year's finals defeat in extra time, and the club's 10-year drought since last winning a Senior finals game, to defeat a plucky Basin in the Division 3 elimination final in front of a large crowd at the Vermont Recreation Reserve.
