Alphington Sports Medicine Clinic (ASMC)
is pleased to offer Macleod Junior Football Club three new services.
1. Concussion Service
2. Club Support/Injury Management Service
3. Education Services
The ASMC concussion servive involves; the player being seen as a priority, by experienced sports doctors to assess, manage and advise players, parents and coaches, on the management of the concussion. The doctor would implement the appropriate concussion testing protocols and provide recommendations regarding when the player is ready to return to play.
CLUB SUPPORT/INJURY MANAGEMENT SERVICE
The program is available to Macleod Junior Football Club and all players registered at this club. In return, we will have a physiotherapist assigned to MJFC, in which the physiotherapist would:
-Provide our head trainer with a mobile number so the trainer can seek advice on injury management on game days and training evenings.
-Priority appointment times, early in the week to assess injuries and provide feedback on injury management to the player, trainer and coach, as required.
-Priority access to the Doctors, Sports and Exercise Physicians and registars who are supported by the network of specialist providers. (e.g orthopaedic surgeons) and radiology services. In addition the paediatrician, Dr Peter Barnett (formerly deputy medical director of the Royal Children's Hospital accident and emergency department) has retained his links with the Royal Children's Hospital for prompt referral of children needing tertiary level services. e.g. post head injury
