A very good weekend for the Northcote Park Football Club on the Anzac Day weekend whereby all three Teams recorded good solid wins against our Darebin neighbours. Thank you to the West Preston Lakeside Football Club teams for playing the games in a very completive manner and in the right spirit.
Great to see all teams prior to their games, observe a minute's silence for Anzac Day & the young Lower Plenty footballer Patrick Cronin who passed away last week in tragic circumstances.
SENIORS:
After the first 10 minutes it looked like we would be chasing leather all day. West Preston had 1:4 on the board before we even had a sniff. Somehow, thanks to some Jordan Perry & Nik McNiece magic & and a hard working defence we managed held a point lead at 1/4 time.
Our second quarter was quite good where we kicked 4:8. The mosquito fleet superbly lead by Bronik started to get on top. Drawing from our skipper's inspiration, players such Thorpie, Brody Ricardi were stepping up to the plate by continuously driving the ball forward.
The defence superbly lead by Harmit & Jules where keeping the opposing forwards in check,as well providing great rebound.
The third quarter was very tight, West Preston bounced back, but thanks to some accurate goal kicking especially from speedsters Ricky & Brockie as well young ruckman Paul we managed to hold an 8 point leading at 3/4 time.
Our last quarter was a very good team oriented performance; we were applying good pressure all over the ground which saw our forwards capitalise.
If not for three goals by West Preston in "junk time" we would have recorded a bigger win, but nevertheless it was good to get the win as a great reward for a hard working week on the training track & it also saw us retain the highly treasured Mellerick/McNiece trophy.
RESERVES:
Without doubt the highlight of the day was the great 10 goal performance by Mitch Papas. Well done, Mitch.
The boys superbly lead by a rebounding defence working well with the on all division who controlled the game all day. Maxie,Rosco,Jaydyn, Xavier,Timmy, Georgie & the Oneill brothers were making life difficult for the West Preston forwards Our on ballers in, the G Train, Dot Man,Chilli, Wheels & Hanning had field day and provided great service to the forwards.

Rd 3 marked the Bill Lawry Oval Debut of the next generation of the proud & great Northcote Park Amad family;namely Michael Amad.
Michael, son of Club great Joe and nephew of premiership Captain & also Club great Matthew played well up forward taking some great marks and kicking a couple of goals.
A hard at it game style evident in the first 2 rounds continued against West Preston.
The opposition whilst outclassed, never gave up and made our boys work hard.
The forward line looked good when they gave themselves space to move. Some big marking from Kizza, Andre and the Waldron boys were highlights.
Our back men in Sam & the Brown boys were more miserly than Mr Scrooge!
Hardworking onballers in Simmo, Aydin, Ben,Al,Nathan and Jesse worked hard all Day.
The highlight of the day was the second quarter goal of the year contender from the by Arthur "Giving him the Car now" Phlorides. Knowing what this young man has gone through to just play football, it was great to see his team mates get around him when he kicked it.
See you all next week at Macleod. Let's get around each other.
