About Us

 Leichhardt Junior Soccer Club

The Leichhardt Soccer Club was founded in 1975 by a small group of Italian / Australians. The club was originally named "Azzurri Leichhardt" being the Azzurri Blue of the Italian National Team and our own Federal Electorate of Leichhardt.

Leichhardt first entered the Senior Competition in 1976 and fielded it's first Junior Team in 1977 in the U10 age group.

The Club's Senior Committee administered the Juniors for many years and the Juniors became self-governing in 1990 with the acquisition of the fields at Windarra Street, Woree.

Leichhardt proudly wears the colours of red, black and white and the lion is the club's long standing emblem.

The club caters for players age 3 and up. The club boasts two full-size fields. The Leichhardt Junior Soccer Club Inc. is a non-profit Sporting Organisation committed to fostering the growth and promotion of Junior and Youth Soccer in the Cairns Region. As a community organisation, the club is run by volunteer parents and supporters.

Our club objectives are to teach and train soccer players and coaches, develop leadership qualities and promote good sportsmanship among players, coaches, parents and spectators.

We provide children and young adults with the opportunity to participate in a soccer experience where they can develop positive self-esteem and build character by learning the virtues of hard work, respect, honesty, self-control, teamwork and sportsmanship
