Camden’s Division 4 side has lifted itself into 5th place of the BLK AFL Sydney Division 4 ladder with a 120-point thumping of Sydney Uni at Fairfax Reserve.
Camden was out to make a statement about its premiership credentials on a perfect day for football at Fairfax Reserve. The Cats were quick out of the blocks kicking 6 goals straight in the first quarter, due mainly to the excellent ball supply from the midfield, with the centre clearances well in Camden’s favour. The midfield was ruthless in its pursuit of the ball all day, led by hardman Mark Halteh and ball magnet Jared Mullaney. Matt “Does Not Miss” Lecek was in devastating touch slotting a remarkable 11 goals straight for the game, many of them from tight angles on the boundary. He was well supported by Stephen Mann (4 goals) and Cats skipper Jarryd Kitching who found his kicking boots (3 goals). The backline held tight all day, repelling the opposition attacks with hard tackling and silky skills. Sean “Lako” Lakeman, Grant James and James Watkins were some of the Cats best in the back half. In the end a fantastic four quarter effort from the Cats, who had winners all over the park. A 20-goal win the end result and a much needed percentage boost.
Camden Cats - Upcoming Events
Saturday 20 June 2015: Camden Cats Ladies' Day
Our annual Ladies Day is an opportunity for the club to show its appreciation for all that our mothers, wives, girlfriends and partners do to support our playing group and the game of AFL. We will be hosting a ladies lunch at the club. The players will be wearing a special pink football jumper on the day in support of women's health. Each jumper will then be sold to raise money for the Cancer Council.
Saturday 4 July 2015: Old Boys / Heritage Round
The club will be celebrating the 10-year anniversary of the Cats' 2005 premiership side with a 'Heritage Round'. The current first grade side will adorn the original blue Camden Cats football jumper in honour of their forefathers. We will be holding a function for the 2005 side on the day.
Saturday 25 July 2015: Beyond Blue Round
Round 15 of the season is focused on men's health. Blue socks will be worn by all Camden grades in support of charity Beyond Blue. We are going to make this day more than just about ‘blue socks’ by inviting guests, players and supporters for a breakfast and panel discussion panel around various men’s health issues.
Next weekend all three Camden sides are away from home against Moorebank at Rosedale Park. Division 5 kicks things off at 1pm, followed by Division 4 at 3pm and the main game, Division 2 at 5:10pm.
