2018 Season Launch
Despite a bit of drizzly rain, our Season Launch went off with a bang on Saturday Feb 24 to set our 2018 Redback season off in style.
The attendance of existing club members was fantastic and we welcomed many new faces to Chaddy Lacrosse, including players, parents and siblings.
All senior and junior teams were put through their paces, under the eyes of our committed coaches. Our teams put on a great display of our sport. The come and try area was busy with new players learning skills and having fun. Many thanks to the Redback Recruitment Squad, Committee and volunteers who helped out to make the day a cracking success!

Recruitment news: Chaddy Shopping Centre drive and Monash Uni O'Week
A massive couple of weeks for recruitment at the club with the Chaddy Shopping Centre drive on 17 and 18 February and Monash Uni O'Week straight after, culminating with our Season Launch.
The response at both drives were really positive and resulted in several new players for our club.
In its 2nd year the Chaddy Shopping Centre drive utilises our close proximity to Chadstone Shopping Centre and allows us to interact with a large captive audience. It's a press the flesh opportunity that is just too good to miss. Monash Uni O'Week is an ongoing promotion through existing relationships with the university, giving the club access to both local and international students for our senior ranks.
The Redback Recruitment Squad's mission is to recruit new players to our club through raising our profile at drives like this. It takes a lot of time and effort, but when we see the results like at season launch and the response especially this year at O'Week, it seems our efforts are worthwhile. The Squad will analyse our results, learn lessons from them and implement these learnings in strategies for recruitment in the coming years. Huge thanks to squad members Mardi, Ellie, Michael, Megan, Cris, Rob, Bruce, James and Gregg.
Massive thanks to all those who volunteered at the stall at Shopping Centre drive and also an extra special thank you to our Monash Liaison - Samantha McClelland and James Ondari for their massive efforts at O'Week (getting the details of an impressive 67 people who expressed some interest in lacrosse). Great job!

Welcome to our new import, Rob Hunter
Chadstone Lacrosse would like to introduce Rob Hunter. our club's new import. Rob has joined us from Toronto, Canada and is playing with our senior sides as well as coaching our U13 boys. So if you see him around the club - go and say hello and give him a real Redback welcome.
Rob grew up in Toronto, Ontario and has been playing box and field lacrosse since the age of 5. He started playing box for the Toronto Beaches Lacrosse Club and later went on to play on the Beaches Jr. A squad. Rob attended St. Michael's College School in Toronto, where he played varsity ice hockey, lacrosse and football. From there he went on to attend the Westminster School in Simsbury, CT, USA to further pursue his sports career in hockey and lacrosse, with the intention of earning an American college scholarship. In 2010 Rob received and athletic scholarship to attend Siena College in Loudonville, NY, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Marketing and won 2 MAAC conference championships in his first and final year. Rob was fortunate enough to play against some major programs such as: Cornell, Duke, Johns Hopkins and Syracuse.
Since graduating Rob has taken some time away from the game to travel and experience the world. He spent a year in Amsterdam, NL working as a barman and a paddle board instructor. He gave lessons to school children and taught paddling on the canals of Amsterdam during the day, while serving thirsty travellers in the evenings. Since returning to Canada Rob has been working for a marketing company as an event manager representing such brands as: Appleton Estate Rum, Panasonic, LG, Nike, TD Bank and Uniqlo. For the 2018 season, Rob will be coaching the U13 boys team at Chadstone and will be playing on the mens team as well.
