Whilst the senior team did not achieve the expectations we had at the start
of the season there were still positives to take out of the year. We had
over 40 players represent the team over the course of the season, 14 of
which were rookies playing their first senior games for the club. This is by
far a record number in my 6 years as senior coach of the Noosa Tigers and
certainly a record number of first senior gamers in all of my football
coaching career. The experience they gained this year will give them a
platform to build on and, combined with six months to develop stronger bodies
and better conditioning, there is no doubt in my mind that they can play a
major role in taking the club forward to future success in what will be a
newly formed competition and in combination with our core group of
experienced players they have the ability to ultimately achieve premiership
glory for the Noosa Tigers.
There were many outstanding individual performances throughout the season. Congratulations once again to those who were recognised with game day awards
from our valued sponsors during the season and congratulations on a job well
done to the players who have been recognised for outstanding individual
seasons with our end of year Trophy Presentations. Special recognition must
go to Caleb Isles our 2013 Club Best and Fairest winner, Cubby had an
excellent year performing consistently in every game displaying plenty of
courage, determination and skill and is a deserving winner of the senior
teams highest honour. This is the third time Cubby has been the recipient of
this award in 7 years, this is a great achievement and a true indication of
what a champion player he has been for our club and he is also a champion
bloke around our footy club.
On behalf of the players and myself I would once again thank our football
committee, club sponsors and supporters for your continued support and
generosity and to Jess, Kirsty, Judy and co for the wonderful dinners that
you prepared every Thursday night throughout the season, all of your efforts
were greatly appreciated, so thank you all.
To our 2013 club Captain and on field assistant coach Peter Trompf,
congratulations on the way you led the team this season both on and off the
field, your fearless on field leadership is inspiring, your enthusiasm for
the club is infectious and your support to me was very much appreciated.
Also to Jason Sherriff, Rob Purvis, Damien Walsh and Terry Morris thank you
for your assistance in coaching the players all season, the help and support
you provided on training nights and match days was invaluable and it was a
privilege to work with you all. As he has done in my 6 years at the helm Kym
Hendrie made himself available to do game day stats, thank you Kymbo for
your time and the stats feedback you provided each week and congrats on a
job well done.
I have been very fortunate to have had the experience of being involved with
many quality young men in my time as coach and this year was no exception, I
thank you all for your efforts at training and on game days, whilst we did
not have the success of previous years my involvement with you was very
rewarding and I thank you for your fantastic support, your mateship and the
good times that we shared. Whilst I have stepped down as senior coach I
still intend to stay involved with the club and do what I can to achieve a
common goal which is to continue working toward making our Football Club the
envy of all sporting clubs on the Sunshine Coast. It has been an absolute
honour to have coached the club for six years and I am thankful for the
opportunity, I have been extremely fortunate to have had the support of many
great people and to have worked with so many great people, this has made my
journey incredibly enjoyable, I will always value the experience, the
friendships and will forever hold fond memories, especially those of our
back to back Premiership years of 2010/2011. Thank you one and thank you all
and the very best of luck to everyone for future years.
Cheers
Fletch
