Saturday saw our Senior Team break a long drought winning their first game of the season with a dominant 6 goal victory over the Panthers. The day was made even more memorable with another 2 Juniors proving they are at home in senior footy, and a rare occasion in footy when Dad, Steve Smithwick, took the park with Son, Isaac. (And also Uncle, Scott, to make it an almost never seen before occasion)
This win is credit to Steve and the work he has done with this group, and well deserved for the hard work put in by the group, largely consisting of new players. Hopefully this is the start of things to come.
This win topped off a great day of Footy with all 3 Junior teams recording Victories for the day, many many years since the Roos last recorded 4 Wins in one day. A special mention must go out to our Under 17 captain Brayden Anwyl who bagged 10 goals. Whilst it was a good around performance by the team this is truly a remarkable achievement to bag 10 Majors so well done mate.
Not to forget the Reserves who battled hard all day and showed true determination when despite being comprehensively beaten battled all the way to win the last quarter. And the sisters again continued to show improvement and numbers are gradually getting there and Saturdays performance was further confirmation that the first win is just around the corner. Whilst we now take a week off to recharge the batteries and get over any niggling injuries we hope we can continue this great form in the next match against the Glenmore Bulls at Stenlake park.
