CDSFA Competition Matters and Scheduling

INITIAL PREMIERSHIP FIXTURE SCHEDULING

 1)      The CDSFA has available to it 16 weekends during the season plus two (2) catch-up weekends (June long weekend and middle week of the July school holidays) on which matches can be scheduled. This allows for a three (3) week finals series.

 2)      In a 10-team adult division, games will be originally scheduled for every weekend available including the two catch-up weekends. These teams require 18-rounds.

 3)      In a 12/14-team division, the first cycle of rounds (rounds 1-11 or 1-13) are originally scheduled for the first eleven (11) weekends available. This will include the June long weekend. These divisions are then split for the remainder of the season.

 4)      10, 12 and 14-team divisions will play a double-header in the first six (6) rounds of the competition.

 5)      In 6 and 8-team divisions, the games will be originally scheduled not using the two catch-up weekends.

RESCHEDULING OF PREMIERSHIP FIXTURES

 1)      The CDSFA endeavours to play all games during the season. If a game is not played for whatever reason at it originally scheduled date the CDSFA will attempt to reschedule that game.

 2)      Games may not be rescheduled if the Fixtures Committee considered there are circumstances whereby a game shall not be rescheduled.

 3)      Games for 10/12 and 14 team divisions will be rescheduled as double-headers. i.e. If the team’s normal playing day is Saturday they will be rescheduled to a Sunday (and vice versa if the normal playing day is Sunday).

 4)      It is the Association’s objective that the games will be rescheduled to be played in a fortnight’s time from where it was originally scheduled. E.g. A game is not played 6th May (Saturday), hopefully it will be rescheduled for 21st May (Sunday).

 5)      Divisions consisting of 6 or 8-teams will be initially rescheduled to the catch-up weekends on their normal playing day. Once these weekends are full, then games not played will be rescheduled to the alternate playing day (as described above).

 6)      It is the Association’s aim that the games will be rescheduled to be played in a fortnight’s time from where it was originally scheduled.

 7)      There may be a time when it is not possible to complete all games in a division during the season. If this occurs then the finalists will be determined according to the CDSFA Rules.

 SUNDAY ALL AGE (MEN) COMPETITION

Special All Age Sunday (Men) Rule: (Rule 1.9.10) If all games in any particular round of the All Age Sunday divisions are not played then that round SHALL NOT be rescheduled unless there are catch-up Sundays available.

 FLOOD LIGHT FIXTURES

The CDSFA has extremely limited access to grounds that have lighting to Australian Standards to permit night matches. Those clubs that have access to adequate lighting for night games and wish to play a game not played at night on their ground MUST notify the Competition Secretary in writing of this request BEFORE the game is rescheduled. Once rescheduled it is difficult to change.

CONTACT WITH CDSFA RE FIXTURE SCHEDULING

The CDSFA will only deal with Club Competition Secretaries and Club Secretaries. The Association will not deal with Team Coaches, Managers, Team Captains or Parents in respect to the scheduling of Competition Fixtures.

RESCHEDULING FIXTURES DUE TO SOCIAL ACTIVITIES

The CDSFA has reached a point where it cannot reallocate fixtures during the season due to social activities (weddings, etc.). Any team within a Club who may have players engaged in social activities during the season which may place the team in a situation where it has insufficient players to take the field on a game day, should prior to the season draw being completed (and posted as live), make an application in writing seeking consideration. Unless such does occur, then any approach to defer the game will not be considered.

OFFICIATING – DOUBLE HEADER WEEKENDS

Based on past experience, and advice from the CRA, Clubs will need to have in place contingency plans for “stand-in” match officials for adult fixtures on double header weekends.

Clubs should ensure Coaches and Managers are conversant with the Association Rules in terms of what happens in such scenarios, with Rule 7.2 being drawn to the attention of Team Coaches and Managers prior to the competition commencing in 2017.

Clubs wishing to reschedule matches between themselves should have knowledge of Rule 1.9.3.6

Clubs that wish to object to a RESCHEDULED match should have knowledge of Rule 1.9.4
