Today one of our club’s most decorated players, Zenda McConnell plays her 250th Game. This achievement is made all the more significant as they have all been played in A Grade.
Zenda first came to the White Hills Football Netball Club in 1996 and has played every year since!! In her first year, Zenda had an immediate impact on the court winning the HDNA A Grade Best & Fairest Award.. She went onto win another five League Best & Fairest Awards (1998, 1999, 2001, 2002 & 2006), and also came Runners-Up in 1997. Zenda has represented the HDNA in the Open Squad in 2003, 2004, 2005 & 2007. Zenda received the HDNA A Grade Grand Final Best on Court Player Award in 2000 & 2001
At club level Zenda has been awarded the Best & Fairest Award on eight occasions (1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005 & 2006) and was Runners-Up in 1996. Zenda received the WHFNC A Grade Best in Finals Player Award in 2000, 2001 & 2009. Even though she has obtained amazing individual accolades in her time at the club, Zenda is very much a team player and values the each of the 13 A Grade Grand Finals she has played, which have resulted in nine Premierships which are definite highlights of her netball career. She is also very proud of her WHFNC Life Membership (2005) and HDNA 200 A Grade Games Life Membership Award (2007)
Zenda is a fantastic role model, who is respected and admired amongst team-mates and opposition players. She is a determined mid-court player whose athleticism ensures she takes many intercepts, and her attacking skills, along with her passing ability creates many opportunities for her fellow team members.
Off court Zenda is always volunteering her time and willing to help whenever needed. Her roles have included President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Club Umpire Co-ordinator, Sponsorship Co-ordinator, along with her coaching A, A Reserve, B & C Grade teams in her time at the club. Zenda’s dedication to the White Hills Football Netball Club was recognized when she was awarded Best Club Person in 2008.
Zenda’s passion for the club is shared with her husband David who continues to play football, and her son Cooper who proudly watches his mum from the side-lines.
The White Hills Football Netball Club would like to congratulate Zenda on playing her 250th game today and thank her for her contribution to our club.
