All that could. be desired was achlcved by the Woori Yallock Football Club on Friday night, on the occasion
of the club's annual ball. To begin with, beautllful weather favoured the event, and the visiting public travelled In large numbers from, all other centres, while a big sprinkling of city folk was also noticed.
The hall was Indeed a picture, with club's colors of yellow and black occuping the main positions, with the colours of other Clubs Intermingled at each end, while each window was conspicuous with yellow and black paper curtains, the work of the president's wife.
The stage was very striking hand painted with lilies and greenery occupying a foremost position, where the
revellers dance band kept pattrons going at a merry pace, although space on the floor to give comfort was rather difficult to find in the face of such a hugh crowd.
The team and officals were presented with yellow and black hats, which went further embellishment to the happy scenes. Besides this, caps were distributed to all the dances who made good use of them.
Several trophies were presented prior to supper. Cr T. Howies trophy for the best and fairest player in the team was won by Harold Turner, who turned in a speech as well chosen as his play when thanking the donor and the team for thier gift.
Boundary Umpire Tom Spicer and Gatekeeper Burrows and T Seeber also came in for recognition.
Tom received a ??? outfit, and ??? Burrows and Seeber were handed a pipe each for thier help and assistance. All three tendered thanks for the kindly sentiments underlying these gifts.
Supper was served by the hard working committee. This was rather a big job under the circumstances but willing hands saw that everyone had full and plenty.
Therefore dancing was ressumed to hold away until the small hours of the morning.
The frocks of the ladies looked really gorgeous. As the youger people circled the room in their beautiful colourings the spectacle made everyone wish that it were possilbe to always retain the vigor and attractiveness of youth.
