CDHBU are out of the final after they went down by 44 points to Brock Burrum Saints at Walbundrie.
For the second week in a row the Power took on the Saints but this week the Saints were ready for the Power and their on ballers looked dangerous early. It was the Power who kicked the first goal through Alex Wallis but the Saints were creating plenty of chances but were having trouble in front of goal. The Power was making the most of their chances up forward with Wallis kicking his second and when coach Brat Talbot did a great smother and goaled the Power was 4 points up. Inaccuracy was plaguing the Saints and when they kicked a point on the quarter time siren they were leading by that point 2.8 to 3.1 at quarter time.
Jeremy Stevenson goaled early in the second quarter to see the Power up by 6 points but that it for the Power. Josh Lewis was fighting hard in the mid field while Jay O’Donoghue and Stevenson were prominent but the Saints had most of the ball as they kicked the next three goals to lead by 17 points at half time, 5.14 to 4.3.
The Power continued to fight hard in the third quarter with Blaize Naughtin and Tim Cooper playing well in defence as the margin was 19 points when the siren went, but a goal after the siren stretched it out to 25 points and gave them all the moment as they lead 8.18 to 6.5.
The Power hung tough for the first 15 minutes with the margin at 26 points but the Saints took control as they kicked the last 3 goals as the Saints finished 12.21 to 7.7 winners.
The Under 17’s have kept their finals campaign alive after they hung on by 5 points against Murray Magpies in a thriller on Sunday.
The Power was slow out of the box with Magpies runners causing plenty of trouble as the Magpies lead by 8 points at quarter time.
The second quarter saw the Power lift their work rate with Andrew Phibbs and Jordan Lavis impassable at half back and with Jack Wynne and Dylan Cornell playing well the Power was able to kick 3 goals to 1 to lead by 7 points at half time, 4.5 to 3.4.
The Power continued to increase their lead, Finn Reeves was doing his job, Matthew Walker was providing a good target up forward while Luke McKaskill was playing well in defence and when Tim Heagney hit the score board the Power was able to lead by 20 points at the last change, 7.7 to 4.5.
The last quarter saw two goals to Matthew Walker, which took his total to 6 goals for the game as the margin was out to 33 points with 10 minutes left. But the Magpies finished full of run as they banged on 4 goals as the ball lived in their forward half. A snapped shot with a minute left was touched and the Power was able to hang on as they ran out 9.8 to 8.9 winners.
A Grade season has also finished after it went down to Brock Burrum by 19 goals in their Elimination Final. The girls had a great start on Saturday against Brock Burrum Saints but with some hot conditions the Saints were able to capitalize on a few opportunities that we couldn't get back. Kate Aylward had a great game in defence against shooters that rarely missed whilst at the other end Bec Barber put in a huge amount of work in the ring. The conditions meant we saw some changes being made and all the girls in midcourt stepped up when they needed to. A great game put in by all the girls pushing the Saints right to the end but Saints were too strong running out 58 to 39 winners.
The 12 & Under Netballers final campaign came to an end after they went down by 5 goals in their Elimination Final. The girls put of a great effort going down 19 goals to 14 goals. Jade Lane was brilliant for the Power and was the umpires choice for best on court.
