The Rococo Bistro Noosa Tigers produced their best win of season 2016 at Weyba Road last Saturday against voracious opponents Caloundra in front of a very healthy school holiday crowd.
From the very outset the Noosa boys were on song as they pressed their opponents relentlessly, particularly in the forward half where the Panthers had real trouble clearing the area. Up forward it was popular clubman and goalsneak Adam Curry who banged home 3 majors for the term with onballers Hill, Moloney, Isles, Fitzpatrick and Davis all over the place.
The Tigers backline was holding sway also with the return of Jack Tickner, into the key back role, noticeable and the solid form of Lambourn, Copeland, Wallace McKittrick and Hunt further evidence of the way the Tigers were going about it.
Caloundra showed signs of getting some run in the second quarter however it was the Tigers ferocious pressure around the footy that had them leading by four goals at the main break.
The second half was a replica of the second quarter with both sides not giving an inch before it was noticeable that the Panthers could no longer stand the onslaught of tackling and harassing that had been applied to them with the Tiger faithful increasingly warming to the goal kicking exploits of Adam “Cuz” Curry who really did put on a show. Curry ended the day kicking 8 goals in a superb display of small forward play and thoroughly deserved his best on ground win in the Tigers 53 point victory. Amazing to think that this same guy struggled to get only four games in the Reserves last year. What a credit to Cuz’s effort and persistence and what a great story. Great effort Cuz!
Mind you there were top players everywhere for the Tigers with experienced onballers Hill and Moloney just outstanding for Noosa the entire day with youngsters Boardman and Fitzpatrick making courageous contributions to the victory also. As mentioned earlier the entire backline were superb whilst coach Faure booted 3 majors with Westell and Sutton showing glimpses of brilliance throughout the afternoon also.
It was Cuz’s' day though on the back of what can only be described as manic and relentless pressure applied by this improving and growing in confidence Tiger outfit. It really was great to watch.
Another massive game this Saturday in Brisbane as Noosa hit defending premiers and the ladder second spot holder Mayne with only percentage separating the two Tiger clubs.
Should be a ripper. Go Tigers. Cheers Pittsy.
