We are saddened to hear of the passing of club stalwart Frank Bates following his battle with cancer.
Frank joined the Noosa Australian Football Club in 1975 and was a member of that years Premiership team when Noosa 10.23.83 defeated Maroochydore 10.9.69.
During his eleven years of playing football for Noosa, Frank notched up over 200 open age games and, apart from the 1975 premiership, played in the 1977 Premiership team and captained the Reserves 1981 Premiership team.
After his playing days were over Frank continued his involvement at Weyba Road coaching junior teams between 1998 and 2003.
Frank served on committee in 1975 and 2008 and was Clubman of the Year in 1978.
Batesy was granted Honorary Life Membership of the Noosa Tigers in 1983, the sixth person to receive this honour and was inducted into the Sunshine Coast Football Hall of Fame in 2015.
Frank was very knowledgeable about Australian football, a great mate, a bit of a comedian and a real gentleman who will be sorely missed around the club.
