Still excited about their success in winning both the
Under 18s and Senior premierships titles this year,
the Port Macquarie Magpies AFL Club will kick off
their "back to back" aspirations with their traditional
Christmas Party this Sunday before hitting the
pre-season track with the first official training session
on Wednesday 3 December.
Convincing victories in both grades has the club energies and keen to make a start on their title defense. Club President Craig Carroll said, "We're very pleased to announce the club has again secured the services of Scott Abercrombie as our Head Coach for 2014 and he'll be assisted by Damon Munt together with former Captain Coach Matt Newton as fitness coach during the pre-season and throughout the year. The three men provide a formidable combination with decades of high level footy experience between them". Asked about the clubs prospects for the new season and their "back-to-back" goals Carroll said, "Winning a premiership requires a very special combination of players and officials and then a variety of factors going your way together with a good dose of luck. Maintaining ALL those things over two seasons requires an extraordinary effort and a very special group of people. That's why Scott wants to make an early start with the clubs first official function this Sunday and then pre-season season training at Town Beach next Wednesday giving the boys the best chance to repeat the success of 2013 and adding the Reserve Grade team to the trifecta ".
All past and present players, sponsors, supporters and their families are welcome to join the Magpies this weekend. For details please contact Club Secretary Elaine Gillman on 0419 575 298 or go the the clubs website
