The 2nd Annual Sportsman’s lunch was another success. We had 110 attendees fill out the Panton Hill Community Hall who thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment food and a couple of drinks.
Our MC for the day, senior coach, Joff Byron did a fantastic job on the day, kick starting the day with a very enlightening interview with current AFL player, Tom Bellchambers from Essendon FC. Tom was brilliant giving us a ‘down to earth’ insight into his days as a young boy growing up in Tasmania playing football with his older brothers and giving us a summary of his journey so far into the AFL.
Ex Hawthorn Premiership player and Hall of Famer, Dermott Brereton followed on from Tom, sharing some great stories from his playing and non-playing days. We got great value out of Dermie as he stuck around for photos, signings and a one on one chat with our current players.
Greg Champion completed a great day with his very funny and clever songs and gags.
Many thanks to the following people in no specific order;
Gary Overton (Overton Caterers) who did a first class job of the meals for the day.
Graeme Synan who has been working on the day for the last month, organising the entertainment, prizes and general format for the day, setting up, ensuring the day runs smoothly, and then packing up at the end of the day. A great effort Graeme and we all thank you.
