Summer 7's is Football Federation Victoria's social format of the game. It involves 7 players on each team on a modified, smaller pitch. With a large emphasis on fun, fitness and social benefits that only a team sport can offer, it is suitable for people of all age and skill levels.

 

For 2014 we are pleased to announce that Sportsmart have come on board for what will be the biggest installment of Summer Sevens with competitions running at 9 different venues across Melbourne. With the same venues retained from 2013 and additional ones added there will be a competition near you.

 

Thank you to those that took the time to fill out the evaluation form last year. We have taken the feedback on board and have made the following changes for 2014:

• You can inform us of your 2014 winter league grade during registration. Although we do not guarantee grading we will take this information into consideration when there are more than 8 teams within any one age group at the same venue
• Same playing time for open age men & women. Rather than having all open women play before open men at the same venue games will now kick off at the same time to ensure your team has a variety of kick off times during the competition
• For the larger venues we will be putting on more staff to ensure we can deal with all queries and issues on the night
• More internal staff dedicated to running Sportsmart Summer Sevens to ensure we can deal with all queries both before and during the competition in a timely manner
• The rules have been amended to provide greater clarity in regards to direct/indirect free kicks and more consistency across the interpretation of rules from referees
• Greater referee appointment process to ensure we have referees for all games
