2015 - A New Season

With all the New Year’s celebrations behind us and the new school year for many just starting our minds start to turn to the new Football Season which is but a few months away.

With Senior players, coaches and training staff starting pre-season training a few weeks back the football year is now under way.

Good numbers out on the track point the way to what should be a good season for the Roosters, who have maintained most of their Premiership squad, with a couple of lads considering their football futures, the rest are super keen.

New players are more than welcome and few more and any Senior Colts would benefit from training at this time of the year, to hone skills and work on running off the Xmas pudding and embedding some fitness.

The Roosters are training both Tuesday and Thursday evenings with the Senior Colts starting their official pre-season on Tuesday February 3rd – or next week for those without a calendar. Stay tuned and watch the Argus for the starting dates for all other Colts grades which won’t be far off.

On the Clubroom extension and building front, things have been happening – mostly behind closed doors – with the interior of the clubrooms being gutted and walls removed, new walls being erected. New windows have been installed across the front of the building, ceilings pulled out and about to be replaced and now the rear of the building has been demolished and is almost in readiness for the footings to be poured and timber frame to go up.

Many volunteer hours have gone into much of this preliminary work with a core crew being helped by various other workers who are moving the building project forward to get certain parts of the project in readiness for the upcoming football season.

More helpers are, of course, always welcome and if you wish to have some input drop by the club at any-time and somebody will (more than likely) be there and give you some pointers on when it would be appropriate for that help to take place.

There are a couple of big stages of the construction where many hands will be required over a weekend or two – so keep an ear out for that yell for help and you can do your bit to help out at those important times.

Of course if you have not purchased a brick (or wish to purchase more) there is no time like the present and this can be checked out on the Club website – www.strathfootyclub.com.au – for further information.

The Club bar is open Thursday evenings for anybody that would like to drop in and have a chat and check out the progress. With the project about to get serious the bar will also be open most Friday evenings for an after work week catch-up and drink or two.

Things are happening at Club Strathalbyn – see you there
